Balcomie Links Hotel
This family run hotel situated on the outskirts of Crail offers you a comfortable base to explore the beauty of the East coast of Fife. Crail is very much a traditional fishing village, with its harbour still regularly used landing fresh crabs and  lobster, narrow streets with crow stepped gables, red pantiles and white washed houses. Crail boasts its own links Golf Course, within a mile from the hotel, which is the 7th oldest still to be played. A new course was added only a few years ago to cope with the ever increasing demand of the course.

The small villages scattered along the coast are steeped in history, with many Scottish Trust buildings and castles open to the public, and are all linked with well kept coastal walks providing an excellent opportunity to take in the spectacular views of the coastline and over the Firth of Forth.

The largest of the villages, Anstruther,  is 3 miles away and houses the Scottish Fisheries Museum, open to the public all year round. Pittenweem, home of the Fife fishing fleet is followed by St Monans which has the Salt Pans and ancient church perched on top of the shoreline rocks. Elie hosts the local Watersports along its sandy beaches and finally on to Largo whose famous son Alexander Selkirk inspired Daniel Defoe's Robinson Crusoe.

A short drive north brings you to St Andrews, "The Home of Golf". Play the famous golf courses, take in the history of the cathedral or just spend a little time wandering round the shops and back streets, which ever you decide it will be an unforgettable experience. The Sea Life Centre is a great attraction for the children as they can touch the sea creatures in the "Rock Pools" and even feed the seals, if you time it right. Nearby is the Secret Bunker, where you can walk deep underground into the shelter built in the event of a nuclear war, Praytis Farm and the Deer Centre.

This part of Scotland is definitely a golfers paradise with over 40 courses within a 25  mile radius of the hotel, with both 18 and 9 hole at varying levels of difficulty the courses will offer a challenge for all.  Use our custom golf package to play a selection of golf courses of your choice.
